I had the opportunity to work with Factory Fifteen on Kibwe Tavares/Daniel Kaluuya film “The Kitchen”.

“In a dystopian future London where all social housing has been eliminated, Izi and Benji fight to navigate the world as residents of The Kitchen, a community that refuses to abandon their home.”

I was brought on to the project work work on several designs and animations for UI graphics throughout the film.

life after life

With Izi’s place of work that feels more like a future utopia greenhouse for the dead that can’t afford a traditional burial. That uses more of a “the circle of life” method to their burial for greener pastures for fertilizing the soil for certain number of the population. The UI interface that helps Izi’s funeral service to complete daily tasks. A clean and minimalist design for that peaceful naturalistic on how the funeral home process works, that feel more like a biodiversity of a forestry then a funeral home.

Barbershop UI

The market (major melting pot of the kitchen) had diverse of different cultures coming together to create this fusion melt-pot. Everything scraped together, getting that “shit tech” around the place. Gambling, loans, crypto schemes, money signs are these neon holograms flooding this part of the city. With barbershop UI for Benji, showing him with different hair styles. Something you would see out of a character creator in a video game.

Buena Viva UI

Thought out “The Kitchen”, Izi bombarded with Buena Vida advertisements. Offering him “the next best thing, just around the corner”. Penthouses that just meet his credit score. There was several city backdrops of major cities of the world, such as London, Paris, New York and Florence. With the Buena Vida coming in first with UI interface system, making these famous and unique worlds feel bland and sameness. One reason for those city pick is the viewpoint of the river with elevated views, to give that same consistency within the images. Later you can see how Buena Vida is the process of eviction and demolition of Benji’s home.
